Panasonic Toughbook CF-54 field laptop

The Panasonic Toughbook CF-54 is a 14-inch semi-rugged laptop built for mobile professionals who need reliable operation in harsh environments. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i5-5300U processor at 2.3 GHz with 16 GB of memory and a 128 GB SSD. Integrated 4G LTE Multi FirstNet, GPS, a smartcard reader and fingerprint reader support secure, connected field work. The non-touch HD display measures 1366 x 768 and is driven by Intel HD Graphics 5500.

Upgrade from consumer ultrabooks

This unit replaces standard business ultrabooks that lack MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD-461F and IP65 certification for shock, vibration, electromagnetic interference and water resistance. The jump is worth it when workflows demand a digitizer pen for signatures or schematics, dedicated FirstNet priority connectivity, or hardware authentication via smartcard and fingerprint. Buyers who need a larger 1080p panel, a touchscreen, or higher storage capacity should look elsewhere.

Verify dock and peripheral compatibility

Confirm that your existing docking stations and port replicators support the CF-54 Mk1 chassis before ordering. Check that fleet management images and security policies are validated for Windows 10 Pro on this hardware generation. Ensure any vehicle mounts or cradles match the specific dimensions of this model. The package includes the digitizer pen and power adapter.

Questions about this item

What are the physical dimensions and mounting points needed to install the CF-54 in a vehicle dock?

The CF-54 is a 14.0 inch laptop with a .5 inch thinner profile than competing models, designed for vehicle mounting with integrated antenna pass-through for external GPS and LTE antennas.

How do I install the digitizer pen and what step is commonly missed during setup?

The included digitizer pen pairs automatically with the display; the step often missed is calibrating the pen in Windows 10 Pro Tablet PC Settings after first boot to ensure accurate input on the 1366 x 768 HD screen.

Which components will need replacement over the life of this MIL-STD-810G and IP65 certified laptop?

The battery is the primary consumable; the 128GB SSD and 16GB RAM are at maximum supported capacity and cannot be upgraded, while the sealed chassis protects internal parts from dust and water per IP65 rating.
