1080p PTZ dome with 30× optical zoom

The Panasonic WV-SW598A is a network PTZ dome camera that captures 1920 × 1080 video at 1080p. Its 30× optical zoom covers a focal range of 4.3 mm to 129 mm with an iris of F/1.6-4.7. Horizontal field of view spans 1.9° to 63° and vertical field of view spans 1.5° to 37°. The unit connects via Ethernet 10Base-T/100Base-TX and supports MJPEG and H.264 streaming. Power options are AC 24 V or PoE Plus with a 60 W power device.

Installers needing wide-area coverage

This camera suits installations that require pan, tilt and zoom flexibility across large indoor or outdoor zones. The 30× zoom lets operators inspect detail at distance while the wide 63° field of view provides situational awareness. Buyers who need wireless connectivity or battery operation should look elsewhere because the camera uses a wired Ethernet link and requires AC 24 V or PoE Plus power.

PoE Plus or AC 24 V power requirement

The single specification that decides fit is the power input: the camera only accepts AC 24 V or PoE Plus (60 W). If the site cannot deliver either of these power sources the camera cannot be deployed. No other power method is supported.

Questions about this item

How do I install the WV-SW598A and what step is often missed?

Connect the dome camera to a network switch or injector that supplies PoE Plus at 60 W, or wire it to a 24 V AC source; the step often missed is confirming the power source delivers the full 60 W so the 30x zoom and PTZ motors operate reliably.

What maintenance or replacement will the WV-SW598A need later?

Plan to clean the dome cover periodically to keep the 1.9–63° horizontal and 1.5–37° vertical fields of view clear, and budget for a replacement PoE Plus injector or 24 V AC supply if the 60 W power device fails after extended use.

What limit appears first during sustained operation of the WV-SW598A?

Continuous pan, tilt and 30x optical zoom movement draws the full 60 W budget, so the first limit is the power supply’s ability to maintain PoE Plus or 24 V AC without voltage drop during prolonged PTZ activity.
