Compact firewall appliance for small networks

The Partaker C2 is a fan-cooled aluminium mini PC built around an Intel Core i7-10810U with six cores and twelve threads running at 1.1 GHz base and 4.9 GHz turbo. It ships with 32 GB of DDR4 memory and a 512 GB M.2 2280 drive, providing a ready-to-deploy platform for RouterOS or similar firewall distributions in branch offices or home labs.

Replaces older single-core

Moving from a legacy appliance with only one or two processing threads to this six-core design is worthwhile when VPN throughput, multi-rule inspection or concurrent package services saturate the older CPU. The jump pays off when the existing hardware cannot keep up with 1000 Mbps line-rate traffic across all four Intel i210-AT or i211-AT ports simultaneously.

Limited by Gigabit Ethernet and single M.2 slot

The four RJ-45 interfaces top out at 1000 Mbps, so aggregate WAN plus LAN throughput cannot exceed that ceiling regardless of CPU headroom. Storage expansion is confined to one M.2 2280 slot supporting SATA or NVME plus one 2.5 inch SATA bay, and the DDR4 SO-DIMM slot is already populated at its 32 GB maximum.

Questions about this item

What are the exact dimensions and mounting options for the Partaker C2 chassis?

The all-aluminium chassis measures 135 x 134 x 48 mm and supports both desktop placement and VESA wall mounting using the included bracket.

How do I install additional storage, and which slot is commonly overlooked?

Insert an M.2 2280 SATA or NVME drive into the M-Key slot, or fit a 2.5 inch SATA drive into the internal bay; the MINI PCIE slot is for wireless modules only and will not accept storage.

Which components may need replacement during the appliance lifespan?

The PWM-controlled cooling fan and the M.2 2280 or 2.5 inch SATA drives are field-replaceable; the 32 GB DDR4 SODIMM is soldered to the single slot at its 32 GB maximum and cannot be upgraded.
