  • 2 MB buffer and 150 ms access reduce burn errors
  • Beige IDE ATAPI drive fits legacy desktop builds

Product identity

The Plextor PX-740A is an internal DVD writer that connects through an IDE ATAPI interface. It suits owners of legacy desktops or industrial systems that still rely on parallel ATA connections for optical media tasks.

Build and connectivity

A beige front bezel matches period-correct chassis aesthetics while the 2 MB buffer helps sustain write operations. The IDE connector and master-slave jumper block determine how the drive shares the cable, so verify the motherboard header and cable length before installation.
