Underground warning tape for excavation safety

This Presco underground non-detectable tape marks buried water lines to help prevent damage during digging operations. It is designed for construction crews, utility contractors, and irrigation installers who need a visible alert below ground. The tape suits projects where detectable locator wire is not required by specification.

Polyethylene film resists soil conditions over time

The 4 mil thick polyethylene construction resists underground elements without turning black or degrading from heavy metals. It maintains its warning message through seasonal moisture and temperature changes during the years it remains buried. Performance stays consistent whether installed in turf, conduit trenches, or pipeline corridors.

Non-adhesive roll simplifies trench placement

Supplied as a 1000 foot roll in 3 inch width with blue and black caution printing for water line identification. The non-adhesive polyethylene film unrolls directly into the trench 4 to 6 inches below the surface without liner removal. Shipped on a neutral or branded core depending on stock, it is ready for immediate installation by mechanical and CATV contractors.

Questions about this item

Will the 4 mil polyethylene tape hold up to heat and moisture when buried all day?

The 4 mil polyethylene film resists underground elements and will not turn black over time, so it remains legible through continuous exposure to soil heat and moisture.

Does this roll need any adhesive, applicator or detectable wire to work as a warning tape?

No adhesive or applicator is required; the tape is non-adhesive and contains no detectable wire, so it is simply unrolled into the trench during backfill.

Can I lay this blue caution tape above older metal or PVC pipes without causing corrosion or signal interference?

The heavy-metal-free polyethylene will not corrode metal pipes or interfere with signals in PVC or communication cables when buried 4 to 6 inches above them.
