Questions about this item

What equipment must I already have for the RJ45 connectors on this 300 ft Cat 6 cable to work?

You need devices with RJ45 Ethernet ports such as a router, switch, modem or network card; the cable simply links two of those ports together.

Will this shielded Cat 6 cable cause any issues if I run it alongside older Cat 5e patch leads in the same rack?

No, the shielding prevents alien crosstalk so it coexists with Cat 5e without degrading either link.

How can I confirm the 1 Gbps link is active after plugging in the gold-plated RJ45 ends?

Check the port LEDs on both devices — steady green or amber usually means a 1 Gbps connection; run a speed test to verify throughput.
