Adds six SATA 3.0 ports through one M.2 NVMe slot using an ASM1166 controller with heatsink and per-port LED indicators
This adapter converts a single M.2 NVMe M-key slot into six SATA 3.0 ports using the ASMedia ASM1166 controller. It is intended for systems that have spare M.2 NVMe slots but insufficient native SATA connectors for multiple hard drives or SSDs. No extra drivers or software configuration are required.
A heatsink on the controller chip reduces operating temperature to maintain stable data transmission. The adapter does not support hot swapping, so drives must be connected while the system is powered off. Total upstream bandwidth is 16 Gbps while each downstream port operates at 6 Gbps.
Each of the six SATA ports has a dedicated LED indicator for real-time status monitoring. The package includes six SATA 3.0 cables, a mounting screw and a screwdriver for installation. The card works with SATA SSDs, 3.5 inch hard drives and optical drives across Windows, Linux, macOS and common NAS operating systems. Buyers who need RAID functionality or hot-swap capability should look elsewhere.

Insert the card into a PCIe 3.0 x2 NVMe M-key slot, secure it with the supplied screw, then attach the six included SATA 3.0 cables to drives; the step often missed is connecting all six cables before closing the case.
The on-board ASM1166 chipset has a dedicated heatsink; keep the fins clear of dust so the chip stays cool — no other user-serviceable parts require replacement.
The PCIe 3.0 x2 host link caps aggregate throughput at 16 Gbps, so simultaneous heavy traffic on multiple drives will hit that ceiling before any single 6 Gbps SATA port saturates.
