A bi-directional DisplayPort 1.4 switch that routes two sources to one display or one source to two displays at up to 7680 x 4320 resolution with a 50cm fixed cable
This Rocstor DisplayPort 1.4 KVM switch handles bi-directional routing between two sources and one display or one source to two displays. It supports resolutions up to 7680 x 4320 for high-fidelity video work. A fixed 50cm pigtail cable simplifies the physical connection. The unit draws power directly from the DisplayPort connector.
The switcher maintains stable 8K throughput during extended sessions without active cooling or external power bricks. Digital audio passes through cleanly alongside the video stream. An optional Type-C female port provides a backup 5V supply if the source port cannot deliver enough current. The mechanical button toggles inputs instantly with no software latency.
This device removes the need to physically unplug DisplayPort cables when moving between two computers or two monitors. It is not suited for setups requiring three or more simultaneous sources. The jump is worth it when daily workflow demands instant, lossless switching at 8K resolution.

The short 50 cm DisplayPort 1.4 pigtail is a passive cable; it carries the signal without active components, so it does not produce measurable heat during all-day 8K operation.
You need two DisplayPort 1.4 source devices, one DisplayPort 1.4 monitor, and DisplayPort cables long enough to reach the switch from each source and to the display.
Yes, the DisplayPort 1.4 switch is backward compatible and will pass a 4K signal from a DisplayPort 1.2 source to a DisplayPort 1.2 display without configuration.
