Dual-band Wi-Fi 6 access point with 8x8:8 spatial streams, 5.9 Gbps maximum rate, 5GbE port and embedded IoT radios for ultra-high-density indoor deployments
Configuration 1x1/2.5/5GbE, 1x1GbE, Wi-Fi 6
The RUCKUS R850 is a dual-band indoor wireless access point built on the Wi-Fi 6 standard. It delivers a maximum combined data rate of 5.9 Gbps using 8x8:8 spatial streams on the 5 GHz band and 4x4:4 on the 2.4 GHz band. The unit includes a 5 Gbps multi-gigabit Ethernet port, a 1 Gbps PoE+ port, and a USB 2.0 interface. Embedded IoT radios support Bluetooth Low Energy and Zigbee for sensor integration.
This access point targets environments such as stadiums, auditoriums, convention centres and transit hubs where up to 1,024 concurrent client connections are required. It supports 16 SSIDs per radio and handles 60 simultaneous VoIP clients. Buyers needing outdoor-rated hardware, a lower-density unit for small offices, or a model without integrated IoT radios should consider other options.
The headline 5.9 Gbps figure — 1148 Mbps on 2.4 GHz plus 4.8 Gbps on 5 GHz — determines whether the R850 matches the backhaul and client-density plan. If the network design calls for lower aggregate throughput or single-gigabit uplinks only, a different tier of Wi-Fi 6 hardware will be more appropriate.

Other versions of this model
The R850 operates on IEEE 802.3at PoE+ through either its 1000Base-T or 5GBase-T port, drawing the power it needs for 8x8:8 5 GHz and 4x4:4 2.4 GHz radios without an external adapter.
A Cat 6 or better cable and a switch port that supports 5GBase-T with IEEE 802.3at PoE+ are needed for the multi-gigabit uplink.
Yes, the access point supports IEEE 802.11n on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands and manages up to 1,024 concurrent client connections across all supported standards.
