12-bay 2.5-inch SFF backplane for PowerEdge R730XD

This add-on card provides a twelve-bay 2.5-inch SFF hard-drive backplane designed for the Dell PowerEdge R730XD server. It enables high-density storage expansion inside the 2U chassis. System builders and IT teams upgrading or repairing that specific platform will find it a direct-fit solution.

Includes matching cables for immediate installation

The unit ships with the required interconnect cables, so the backplane can be cabled to the RAID controller or motherboard without sourcing separate loom kits. This reduces downtime during drive-bay upgrades or backplane replacements. Buyers needing a different bay count, form factor or server model should verify compatibility before ordering.

Questions about this item

What maintenance will the 12 drive bays on the 2.5'' SFF backplane require over time?

The backplane uses a passive PCB design with no moving parts, so the bays themselves need no scheduled maintenance; only the installed drives and their cables may eventually need attention.

What limit appears first when the 12-bay backplane runs continuously in a PowerEdge R730XD?

The backplane has no active cooling or power regulation, so the first limit under sustained use is the thermal and current capacity of the server chassis and its power supply.
