TCRT5000 infrared tracking sensor

This single-channel module uses a TCRT5000 emitter and detector pair to follow lines or detect obstacles. It operates from a 5 V supply and is designed for Arduino, AVR, ARM and PIC projects. The board provides a digital output that switches low on dark surfaces and high on light surfaces. An on-board indicator LED shows the detection state.

Upgrades from basic photoresistor circuits

The integrated IR emitter and shielded detector give stronger anti-interference performance than simple light-dependent resistors. The jump is worth it when ambient lighting varies or when reliable edge detection is needed for line-following robots. Builders who need analogue distance data or multi-channel arrays cannot use this module.
