Medium-hole shockmount for shotgun mics

The Rycote Medium Hole Softie Lyre Mount & Pistol Grip is a one-piece EPDM rubber diaphragm shockmount designed for cylindrical shotgun microphones with a 21-22 mm diameter. It suits short to medium-length models and provides robust isolation for on-camera ENG work.

Verify microphone diameter and shape

Before ordering, confirm that your microphone measures exactly 21-22 mm across its full length and does not taper. The mount only fits straight-bodied shotgun mics; any variation in diameter will prevent a secure fit.

Pistol grip adds handheld flexibility

The included pistol grip lets you hold the suspended microphone directly, turning the shockmount into a portable boom solution. A Softie windshield is sold separately and is required for wind protection in outdoor use.

Questions about this item

Does the Softie Lyre mount include a windshield or pistol grip, or must they be purchased separately?

The Softie mount is sold alone. A Softie windshield is required for wind protection and is not included; the pistol grip is also a separate accessory.

My shotgun microphone measures 21 mm in diameter — will the Medium Hole version hold it securely?

Yes. The Medium Hole size accepts cylindrical shotgun microphones from 21 mm to 22 mm in diameter, so a 21 mm mic fits the rubber Lyre diaphragm correctly.

What is the longest shotgun microphone I can use with this Softie mount before the flexible suspension becomes unstable?

Rycote recommends a maximum microphone length of 32 cm; longer models should use a full windshield system with modular suspension instead.
