Power is drawn directly from the host USB port, so most 2.5 inch drives run without an external supply. Some older or high-capacity mechanical drives may need a powered hub if they fail to spin up.

Verify your drive and host port before ordering

This adapter only fits 2.5 inch drives with a standard SATA connector; it does not support M.2 NVMe, M.2 SATA, 3.5 inch desktop drives or slim optical drives. The host requires a USB Type-A port; computers with only USB-C need a separate USB-C to USB-A adapter. It is not intended for use as a permanent system boot drive in all configurations.
