Tool-free PCIe x16 add-in card holds M.2 NVMe SSDs up to Gen 5.0 speeds with an aluminum heatsink

  • Product colorBlack
  • Tool-free installation lets you add fast NVMe storage in seconds
  • Aluminium heatsink with thermal padding keeps Gen5 SSDs running cool and quiet
  • PCIe x16 physical connector fits x4, x8 or x16 slots for broad motherboard compatibility
  • Electrically x4 PCIe 5.0 delivers maximum NVMe performance, backward compatible to earlier generations
  • Supports M-key and B+M-key NVMe SSDs in 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 form factors

PCIe x16 Add-In Card for NVMe SSDs

This Sabrent adapter lets you install an M.2 NVMe SSD into a PCIe x16 slot on a desktop motherboard. It connects electrically at PCIe 5.0 x4 speeds and includes an aluminium heatsink with thermal padding. The tool-free latch secures drives from 2230 to 2280 length without screws.

Builders adding fast storage to a free PCIe slot

Suits systems with an available x16, x8 or x4 slot that need extra NVMe capacity beyond onboard M.2 sockets. The card is backwards compatible with earlier PCIe generations. Builders who need RAID across multiple drives or support for drives longer than 2280 should look at something else.

PCIe 5.0 x4 electrical interface

The adapter runs at PCIe 5.0 x4 electrically while using a physical x16 connector for mechanical stability. This single specification determines the maximum throughput available to the installed NVMe SSD.

Questions about this item

Which M.2 form factors does the EC-TFPE support?

The card accepts M key NVMe SSDs and older B+M key PCIe SSDs in 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 sizes.

What PCIe generation speed will my Gen5 SSD actually run at on this adapter?

The adapter connects electrically at PCIe x4 and supports up to PCIe 5.0 speeds, so a Gen5 SSD will operate at its full rated bandwidth.

Does the x16 physical connector mean the card needs a full x16 electrical slot?

No — the x16 connector provides physical stability only; the card operates electrically at x4 and will work in x4, x8 or x16 slots.
