5.0 Passive Surround System

This five-piece passive home theater set includes four identical 3-inch bookshelf speakers and one dedicated centre channel. It is intended for listeners who want discrete surround channels driven by their own AV receiver or amplifier and who have space for multiple compact cabinets.

Centre Channel and Mounting Kit

The centre speaker uses a 3-inch mid-bass driver and 52 mm horn tweeter rated for 75 W peak power, while each bookshelf unit peaks at 40 W. A supplied wall-mounting kit lets you fix any of the five enclosures to vertical surfaces, and the ABS, metal and MDF cabinets are finished in black with wood-grain accents.

Wired Passive Installation

All five speakers require speaker wire and an external amplifier or AV receiver; neither wires nor electronics are included. Terminals accept bare wire or banana plugs at 6 ohms nominal impedance for the bookshelves and 8 ohms for the centre. Ensure your amplifier can deliver clean power into those loads before connecting.

Questions about this item

Do the 3-inch drivers or the 52 mm horn tweeters need periodic replacement?

The 3-inch mid-bass drivers and 52 mm horn tweeters are passive components with no moving parts that wear out; they do not require scheduled replacement.

Which speaker hits its power limit first during a long movie — the 40 W bookshelf units or the 75 W centre channel?

Each bookshelf speaker is rated for 40 W peak while the centre channel handles 75 W peak, so the bookshelf units will reach their limit first at high volume.

How warm do the ABS, metal and MDF cabinets get after hours of use at the 230 W system rating?

Passive speakers draw no power themselves; the cabinets stay near room temperature because all amplification and heat occur in the external receiver.
