It lets you lengthen an existing SATA I or SATA II data connection by one foot. The cable uses 26 AWG solid tinned‑copper signal pairs wrapped in aluminum‑mylar shielding and a 2.2 mm × 7.80 mm PVC jacket rated for 80 °C.

The male‑to‑female layout turns a fixed‑length SATA lead into a removable extension, so a drive or dock can sit further from the motherboard without replacing the original cable.
