What this cable connects

This 15 ft Toslink optical cable carries digital audio between two SPDIF ports. Gold-plated male connectors and a nylon-braided jacket protect the signal from corrosion and physical stress. It supports Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 surround formats for clear multi-channel playback.

Suits home cinema and gaming setups

Ideal for linking a TV, soundbar, console, Blu-ray player or AV receiver that has a Toslink input or output. The 15 ft length covers typical living-room distances. Not suited for runs longer than 15 ft or for devices that only accept coaxial or HDMI audio connections.

Bandwidth locks in 5.1 surround

Rated at 125 Mbps, the link handles uncompressed stereo and compressed 5.1 or 7.1 bitstreams without dropouts. If your source sends higher-bitrate formats such as lossless 7.1, this cable will not pass them.

Questions about this item

What SPDIF optical ports must my TV and soundbar already have to use this 15 ft Toslink cable?

Both devices need a standard square Toslink port; the cable has a male connector on each end that plugs directly into those ports.

Will this 15 ft optical cable still pass Dolby Digital 5.1 from an older Blu-ray player to a newer AV receiver?

Yes, the cable carries S/PDIF signals including Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1, so legacy players and modern receivers communicate without conversion.

How can I confirm the 15 ft cable is delivering a clean 5.1 surround signal after I connect it?

Play a Dolby Digital or DTS test clip; the receiver should show the matching format indicator and all five speakers plus the subwoofer should produce sound.
