Digital audio link for home theatre and gaming

The SatelliteSale Toslink cable carries a 125 Mbps optical signal between two SPDIF ports. It supports Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 surround formats as well as uncompressed PCM up to 7.1 channels. The 3 ft length suits typical desktop or living-room setups where components sit close together.

Gold-plated connectors

Each end uses a male Toslink plug with gold plating to resist corrosion and maintain signal clarity. A flexible nylon braided jacket protects the optical fibre from kinks, while multi-layer copper and foil shielding guards against interference. Remember to remove the plastic pin protectors before inserting the plugs.

Replaces basic plastic-jacket SPDIF leads

The upgrade is worthwhile when a cheaper cable suffers from loose ports, signal drop-outs or physical wear. It is not for runs longer than 3 ft, installations needing right-angle plugs, or systems that lack a Toslink port altogether.

Questions about this item

What bandwidth does the 125 Mbps Toslink interface actually support?

The cable carries 125 Mbps, enough for uncompressed PCM stereo and compressed 5.1 or 7.1 surround formats such as Dolby Digital and DTS.

What clearance is needed for the nylon-braided 3 ft cable and its gold-plated Toslink plugs?

The round nylon jacket adds minimal bulk, and each male Toslink connector needs roughly 25 mm of straight port depth plus a little side room for the square collar.

How do I install the cable without losing signal?

Remove the plastic pin protectors from both tips, align the keyed plug with the port, and push straight in until it clicks; forcing it at an angle bends the fibre tip.
