Essential Vinyl Tape for Electricians

This Scotch 35 vinyl electrical tape is built for professional electricians and maintenance crews who need reliable insulation up to 600 volts. The rubber adhesive bonds firmly to wire and cable jackets in everyday repair and splicing jobs. It meets UL 510 and CSA requirements for code-compliant work.

Simple Hand Application

The continuous roll unwinds smoothly for hand wrapping without special tools. Stretch the tape as you wrap to activate the rubber adhesive and form a tight, moisture-resistant seal. Avoid applying on dirty, oily or sharply uneven surfaces because contamination reduces the 20 oz./in. adhesive strength.

600 Volt and 220 °F Limits

The tape is rated for a maximum of 600 volts and continuous exposure up to 220 degrees Fahrenheit. It carries no UV resistance, so prolonged outdoor sunlight will degrade the vinyl backing. The 7.00 mil thickness and 17 lb./in. tensile strength suit standard low-voltage splicing but not high-mechanical-stress harnessing.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the tape is holding correctly after I wrap a splice?

The bond is working when the wrap stays tight without unwinding and the rubber adhesive resists a firm tug; the tape is rated for 20 oz./in. adhesive strength and 17 lb./in. tensile strength.

What comes in the package and what must I supply myself?

The box contains one continuous roll of vinyl electrical tape, 3/4 in. wide by 66 ft. long, orange, 7.00 mil thick; no tools or additional materials are included.

Which version of the Series 35 tape should I choose for a 600 V job?

This Series 35 roll is UL Listed to UL 510 and CSA certified for up to 600 V and 220 °F, so the single orange 66 ft. roll listed here meets that requirement.
