12 TB Surveillance Hard Drive

The Seagate ST12000NM007G Exos X16 is a 12 TB hard drive built for 3.5-inch drive bays. It connects through a SATA 6 Gb/s interface and spins at 7200 RPM with a 256 MB cache. The drive uses a 4Kn disk format for modern storage architectures.

Suited for Multi-Bay Recorders Not for Portable

This drive fits network video recorders and servers that accept 3.5-inch SATA drives and need high-capacity storage. Builders working in compact enclosures or laptops that only support 2.5-inch forms should look at smaller form-factor drives instead.

7200 RPM Spindle Speed

The 7200 RPM rotation rate sets the baseline throughput and random-access response for continuous recording workloads. Random 4 KB read performance reaches 170 IOPS and write reaches 440 IOPS, figures that determine whether the drive keeps up with multiple camera streams.
