Game Vault Capacity

The Seagate STKX4000402 provides 4TB of storage in a portable hard drive formatted for Xbox consoles. It connects through a USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface and draws power directly from the bus, so no external adapter is required. The drive is intended for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S owners who want to keep a large library installed without deleting titles.

Sustained Transfer Behaviour

Data moves over a SuperSpeed USB 3.0 connection, with the drive falling back to USB 2.0 speeds on older ports. Continuous read and write rates follow the mechanical limits of a bus-powered 2.5-inch hard drive rather than the interface burst ceiling. Long copy sessions will therefore settle at the physical media throughput once any cache is filled.

Thermals Noise and Power

The enclosure measures 0.85 by 3.19 by 4.82 inches and weighs 0.59 lb, with no active cooling fan inside. Heat dissipates passively through the black casing during normal operation. An 18-inch USB 3.0 cable is included, and green LED lighting indicates activity while adding negligible power draw.

Questions about this item

How warm or loud does the 4TB STKX4000402 get when it stays plugged in all day?

The drive is bus-powered over USB 3.2 Gen 1 and has no internal fan, so it runs silently and only warms slightly during long gaming sessions.

Which port and console does the STKX4000402 require to work out of the box?

It needs a SuperSpeed USB 3.0 port on an Xbox One, Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S; the 18-inch USB 3.0 cable is included.

Will the STKX4000402 still transfer games if I connect it to an older Xbox One with only USB 2.0 ports?

Yes, the drive is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 ports, though transfer speeds drop to USB 2.0 rates.
