Sharp EL-243SB 8-Digit Pocket Calculator

The Sharp EL-243SB is an eight-digit handheld calculator designed for everyday arithmetic. Its twin-power system uses solar energy with battery backup for reliable operation in various lighting conditions. A hinged hard cover protects the keys and display during storage or transport. This model suits students, office workers and anyone needing quick, portable calculations.

Practical limits of the eight-digit LCD

The display shows a maximum of eight digits, so results exceeding that length will overflow or round. Twin-power operation depends on adequate ambient light for the solar cell; the battery backup takes over in dim conditions. The hinged cover adds a step before use and must be fully opened to access all keys. No scientific or programmable functions are included.

What to check before ordering

Verify that an eight-digit display meets the precision requirements for your typical tasks. Confirm the physical dimensions of 4.2 x 0.7 x 2.5 inches fit your preferred carrying case or pocket. Ensure you are comfortable with the hinged cover mechanism for daily use. The calculator provides basic arithmetic, memory, square root and sign-change keys only.
