M18 inductive proximity sensor with 12 mm sensing range, PNP normally-open output, IP67-rated metal housing, and 2 m PVC cable
The Sick IM18-12BPS-ZW1 is a cylindrical proximity sensor with an 18 mm thread and 12 mm sensing range. It operates on 10 V DC to 30 V DC supply voltage and provides a PNP normally-open output for presence detection. The IP67-rated metal housing suits harsh factory environments.
The quasi-flush design allows near-flush installation in metal while maintaining the full sensing distance. A 2 m three-wire PVC cable with 0.34 mm² conductors carries power and signal directly. Maximum tightening torque is 25 Nm to avoid housing damage during fitting.
The sensor maintains a 500 Hz switching frequency with hysteresis between 1 % and 15 % and reproducibility of 5 %. Temperature drift stays within ±10 % across the –25 °C to +70 °C operating range. Continuous load current is rated at 200 mA with short-circuit and reverse-polarity protection active.

The yellow LED on the sensor body lights when the PNP output switches; bring a metal target within 12 mm and the LED should illuminate, showing the 500 Hz switching is active.
The sensor ships with a 2 m, 3-wire PVC cable (0.34 mm² conductors) and two M18 lock-nuts; you must provide a 10–30 V DC power supply and any mounting bracket.
This model is PNP normally-open; if your PLC input expects a sinking signal, select an NPN version instead — otherwise the PNP NO matches typical sourcing PLC cards.
