M12 inductive sensor with 4 mm range, NPN normally-closed output and IP68/IP69K stainless housing
The Sick IMF12-04BNOVC0S is a cylindrical M12 x 1 proximity switch with a 4 mm sensing range and NPN normally-closed output. It suits automation engineers who need reliable metal detection in tight machine frames.
The sensor detects targets up to 4 mm away and maintains a safe sensing distance of 3.24 mm. A stainless-steel V4A housing and PPS sensing face withstand 2000 Hz switching, 30 g shock and temperatures from –40 °C to +80 °C.
The jump is worth it when an application demands IP69K ingress protection and a 10–30 V DC supply with short-circuit, reverse-polarity and power-up pulse protection built in.

Yes, the sensor uses an M12 x 1 cylindrical thread design with a 4 mm nominal sensing range and 3.24 mm safe sensing range, matching standard M12 brackets and typical flush-mount target gaps.
Apply a target within 4 mm; the NC output opens (load voltage rises). Remove the target; the output closes (load voltage drops). A scope or PLC input shows clean transitions at the rated 2,000 Hz switching frequency.
The sensor ships with a male M12 4-pin connector only; a compatible 4-pin M12 female cable or cordset is not included and must be purchased separately.
