The Sick VTE18-4P2440 is a cylindrical photoelectric proximity sensor with an M18 x 1 thread diameter and an axial optical axis. It operates on a 10 V DC to 30 V DC supply voltage with a maximum power consumption of 30 mA. The sensor uses an infrared LED light source and provides a PNP switching output with selectable light or dark switching via an L/D control cable. It is suited for automation engineers and electricians integrating presence detection into industrial control systems.

Potentiometer adjustment and M12 connector

A 270° potentiometer allows manual adjustment of the sensing range between 3 mm and 170 mm, with a maximum reach of 200 mm. The light spot measures Ø 10 mm at 200 mm distance with an approximate 2.8° dispersion angle. Selectable switching mode and a 2 ms response time at 250 Hz switching frequency support reliable object detection. The male M12 4-pin connection simplifies wiring in standard industrial fieldbus installations without requiring additional cable termination.

Nickel-plated brass housing with IP67 rating

The housing is constructed from nickel-plated brass with PMMA optics and weighs 120 g. An IP67 enclosure rating protects against dust ingress and temporary water immersion in harsh environments. Operating temperature spans –25 °C to +70 °C for use in unheated or outdoor locations. Circuit protection includes supply voltage, output short-circuit, and reverse polarity safeguards.
