Rugged portable drive for field use

The Silicon Power Armor A80 is a 1TB portable hard drive built around a 2.5 inch mechanism inside a full metal body with a silicone internal suspension system. It connects through a USB 3.0 interface that is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and supports Windows, macOS and Linux without extra drivers. The blue enclosure measures 0.71 by 3.7 by 5.47 inches and weighs 9.52 ounces.

Military-grade protection and cable storage

The drive meets the IEC 529 IPX7 standard for water resistance at one metre for 30 minutes and passes the U.S. military MIL-STD-810G transit drop test. It also survives a 118 inch drop onto a hard surface and a 300 kilogram compression load. A USB 3.0 cable storage system is integrated into the casing and the package includes a quick start guide and a utility disc.

Suits mobile workers who face rough handling

This drive suits photographers, surveyors and field technicians who need a terabyte of storage that survives drops, immersion and heavy pressure. It is not intended for users who require solid-state speeds, a hardware encryption engine or a Type-C connector. Buyers who want more capacity or an internal mounting option should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Does the internal suspension system need any user maintenance to keep protecting the drive?

The advanced internal hard drive suspension system is built into the enclosure and requires no user maintenance.

What is the maximum sustained transfer speed the USB 3.0 interface can deliver?

The SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface supports a high transferring rate up to 5Gb/s.

How much heat and noise does the metal casing produce during continuous all-day operation?

The solid metal construction acts as a passive heatsink with no moving cooling parts, so it runs silently while dissipating drive heat.
