6U 12-Bay Rackmount Chassis

The SilverStone RM61-312 is a 6U rackmount chassis designed for servers that need high-density storage in a standard cabinet. It suits system integrators and IT teams building storage nodes, backup targets or hyper-converged platforms where drive count matters more than depth.

12 Hot-Swap Trays With 12 Gb/s SAS Backplane

Twelve front-access trays accept 2.5 or 3.5 inch drives and connect through an integrated backplane with Mini-SAS HD SFF-8643 connectors running at 12 Gb/s. SGPIO support and per-drive status LEDs give immediate visibility of drive health during hot-swap operations.

Triple 360 mm Radiator Support For Sustained Cooling

The chassis accommodates three 360 mm radiators and dual power supplies, letting liquid-cooled CPUs and GPUs shed heat continuously under long compute or rebuild workloads. Removable front door with lock and horizontal or upright mounting options keep airflow stable in dense rack rows.

Questions about this item

What does the 12-bay backplane deliver once the chassis is populated with drives?

Twelve hot-swap trays accept 2.5 or 3.5 drives and connect through a 12G-SAS or 6G-SATA backplane with Mini-SAS HD SFF-8643 links and SGPIO status LEDs per bay.

Which drive interface standard caps the throughput of the integrated backplane?

The backplane runs at 12 Gb/s for SAS and 6 Gb/s for SATA, so SAS drives hit the higher ceiling while SATA drives are limited to the lower rate.

What motherboard form factors and orientation options let the unit fit in a standard rack?

The chassis supports up to E-ATX or SSI-EEB boards with eight expansion slots and can be mounted upright or laid horizontally in a 6U rack space.
