Top-tab file folders for colour-coded filing

Smead 13093 folders use 11 point stock with one-ply tabs, an undercut front panel and rounded top corners. Each folder is scored for 3/4 inch expansion. The 1/3-cut tabs sit 1/2 inch high. A box contains 100 maroon folders ready for immediate use.

Offices that sort by colour rather than label text

The maroon colour helps teams spot the right drawer section at a glance. Buyers who need legal-size folders, hanging-file compatibility or a different tab cut should look elsewhere. The 100-count box suits high-volume filing but may exceed the needs of a small home office.

1/3-cut top-tab layout determines drawer fit

The 1/3-cut tab positions the label area at the top third of the folder, a layout that matches many standard filing cabinets. If your system requires straight-cut or 1/5-cut tabs, these folders will not align with existing guides.

Questions about this item

What filing cabinet or drawer size do I need for these letter-size folders?

These folders are letter size, so they fit standard letter-width filing cabinets or drawers.

Can I use these 1/3-cut top-tab folders in a cabinet that already has 1/2-cut or straight-cut tabs?

Yes, the 1/3-cut tabs align differently, but the folders still sit in the same rails; you will simply have three tab positions instead of two or one.

How do I confirm the 11-pt stock and 3/4" expansion are holding up after loading?

The front panel is undercut and the tabs are one-ply; if the folder stands upright without bowing and the scored crease opens cleanly, the stock and expansion are performing as designed.
