Expansion fastener folder for active files

The Smead 14980 provides 1" expansion and two 2" fasteners to secure punched documents inside a letter-size pressboard folder. Gray-green stock contains 60% recycled content and ships 25 per box for office filing systems.

Durable pressboard handles daily handling

The 60% recycled pressboard resists tearing when folders are pulled from drawers or carried between desks. Fasteners hold up to 2" of material so bulk stays flat without extra binding supplies.

Fits standard letter drawers and shelves

Letter dimensions align with common filing cabinets and open shelving. The 2/5 top-tab cut works with existing tab inserts for quick labeling. Buyers who need legal-size capacity or a different tab cut will need another folder style.

Questions about this item

How do I install the two 2S fasteners in this folder, and what step do people often get wrong?

Position each 2S fastener prong through the pre-punched holes on the inside cover, then fold the prongs flat against the folder surface so the 1" expansion can flex without catching.

What maintenance or replacement will the 2S fasteners need over time?

The metal 2S fasteners are permanent; if a prong bends or breaks from repeated opening, replace the entire folder rather than the fastener.

What limit appears first when the folder is kept full at its 1" expansion for long periods?

The pressboard cover edges begin to curl and the 2" fastener capacity no longer holds the stack securely.
