Heavy-Duty Legal Folders

Smead 19882 file folders are built for offices that move legal-size documents between departments or off-site locations. The 17 point Kraft stock and two embedded fasteners keep multi-page sets intact during frequent handling. Each box contains fifty folders scored for expansion.

Verify Fastener Compatibility

Confirm that your existing filing system accepts two-prong K-style fasteners positioned at No. 1 and No. 3. The one-ply tabs measure one-half inch high with a 2/5 cut on the right of centre, so check drawer spacing and label alignment before ordering.

Sustained Office Use

The heavy-duty Kraft material resists edge wear and corner tearing when folders are pulled daily from packed drawers. Fasteners maintain clamping force through repeated opening cycles, and the scored front panel accommodates bulky case files without splitting the cover.

Questions about this item

Does the box of 50 legal folders include the fasteners or must they be purchased separately?

The two 2" prong K-style fasteners are factory-installed in positions No. 1 and 3 on every folder, so nothing extra needs to be bought.

Should I choose the 2/5 cut right tab or a different tab style for my legal cabinet?

The 2/5 cut right tab is the only tab style offered on this model; it places the label area right of centre on the top edge for standard legal drawer systems.

How much paperwork fits inside a 17 point kraft folder scored for 3/4" expansion?

The 3/4" expansion score lets the folder hold roughly three-quarters of an inch of legal sheets while the 17 point stock resists tearing during frequent handling.
