Yellow pressboard file folders

Smead 21562 folders are made from 23 point coloured pressboard with a high percentage of recycled material. Each folder features a Tyvek reinforced 1 inch expansion gusset to hold bulky paperwork. The 1/3 cut top tab measures half an inch high for clear labelling. Supplied as a box of 25 yellow folders sized for letter documents.

Suits high-volume filing; not for compact storage

These heavyweight folders resist wear and tear in busy offices handling thick, frequently accessed files. The expansion capacity supports substantial document volumes per folder. Buyers needing slimmer folders for tight drawer space or lower-cost options for light use should consider alternatives.

23 point pressboard weight

The 23 point pressboard construction determines durability and rigidity for heavy daily handling. This thickness withstands repeated insertion and removal of large document sets without tearing. Match the folder weight to your filing intensity to ensure the right choice.

Questions about this item

How do I set up the 1/3 cut tab on these 23-pt pressboard folders so the label lines up correctly?

Insert the folder into a letter-size drawer with the 1/2-inch-high tab facing forward; the 1/3 cut positions the label area at the left, center or right third of the folder edge — pick the position that matches your drawer’s label guide and press the tab into the guide rail until it clicks.

What part of the yellow 21562 folder will wear out first and need replacing?

The Tyvek-reinforced accordion gusset handles the repeated expansion to one inch; after heavy daily stuffing the pleats can fatigue, so the gusset is the component most likely to require folder replacement.

At what fill level does the 1-inch expansion stop protecting the papers inside?

The gusset is designed to expand to exactly one inch; once the contents exceed that thickness the cover flaps no longer close fully, exposing the top edges of the documents to dust and creasing.
