Legal shelf folders for high-volume filing

Smead 27134 file folders are built for legal-size documents in open-shelf systems used by medical, dental, financial and insurance offices. Each box contains 100 manila folders made from 11 point stock scored for three-quarter-inch expansion. The 1/3 cut assorted tabs measure one-half inch wide and are double-thick for durability.

Sustained daily use in busy records rooms

The reinforced end tabs resist tearing when folders are pulled repeatedly from crowded shelves. An undercut front panel keeps labels visible even when drawers are packed tight. Scored expansion allows each folder to grow without splitting the stock under heavy, long-term loads.

Fastener limits and label workflow

Folders are slit-punched on two-and-three-quarter-inch centers at positions one through four, but fasteners are sold separately. Labels are also sold separately, so plan for both purchases. The embossed lines guide label placement, yet the system relies on user-applied fasteners for secure binding.

Questions about this item

Will the 11 point stock hold up if the folders sit on a shelf all day?

The 11 point stock is heavyweight material designed for extra durability in open shelf filing systems.

Do I need to buy fasteners separately to use the slit-punched positions?

Fasteners are sold separately; the folders are slit-punched on 2-3/4" centers in positions 1, 2, 3 and 4 for customised installation.

Can I use these legal-size folders alongside my existing letter-size folders on the same shelf?

These are legal-size folders with a 9" high front panel, so they will not align with letter-size folders on the same shelf.
