Legal-size file backs for high-volume filing

These Smead 35521 file backs are built for offices and archives that process legal documents in bulk. The 100-count box supplies enough fasteners for large projects or ongoing daily use. Heavyweight 11-pt manila stock resists tearing during frequent handling. Prong fasteners keep pages in sequence for quick reference and easy access.

2-inch capacity with standard 2-3/4" slit punching

The single specification that decides fit is the 2-inch capacity combined with standard 2-3/4" slit punching. This combination allows the backs to sit inside legal-size file pockets without bulging the side gussets. If your pockets use a different hole pattern or require a smaller capacity, these backs will not align or close properly.

Drop-in installation with no tools required

Installation is a simple drop-in: align the pre-punched slits with the pocket's prongs and press the back into place. No adhesives, rivets or special tools are needed. The most common issue is attempting to force the backs into pockets with non-standard punching or overfilling beyond the 2-inch capacity, which prevents the pocket from closing flat.
