Expanding file for monthly paperwork

The Smead 70388 is a brown expanding file with twelve monthly pockets designed for letter-size documents. A leather-like Redrope cover and built-in flap with an elastic cord keep contents secure while the gusset extends twice as far as standard files. The case stands on its own and contains at least 30 percent post-consumer recycled content with SFI fiber-sourcing certification.

Desk and counter organisation

This file suits anyone who needs a portable, self-supporting way to sort receipts or paperwork by month in a drawer or on a service counter. It is not intended for users who require legal-size capacity, a different pocket count or a locking mechanism.

Twelve monthly pockets for letter size

The single specification that decides fit is the twelve labelled pockets sized for 8 1/2 by 11 inch sheets. If your workflow demands a different pocket arrangement or paper format, this model will not match.

Questions about this item

Does the Smead 70388 need any extra hardware to sit on a desk?

No, the expanding file is self-supporting and stands upright on a flat surface without brackets or trays.

Will letter-size papers from older filing systems fit the 12 monthly pockets?

Yes, each pocket accepts standard 8 1/2" x 11" sheets, so existing letter documents slide straight in.

How can I confirm the gusset expansion is working as intended after loading the file?

The front and back panels should bow outward evenly, showing the gusset extending twice as far as a standard folder.
