Sustained load handling

Under daily filing the elastic cord and button closure keep the protective flap secure while the expanding bottom supports the file upright. Acid-free, PVC-free construction preserves documents without degradation over years of repeated loading and unloading.

Questions about this item

How much power does the Smead 70863 expanding file draw when it sits on a desk all day?

The Smead 70863 is a passive poly file folder with no electronic components, so it draws zero power and generates no heat or noise while holding your documents.

What extra supplies must I already have to start using the 12-pocket file right away?

You only need letter-size papers (8.50 x 11 in.) to fill the 12 expandable pockets; the file includes customizable tab inserts and a protective flap with elastic cord and button closure.

Will the 9.50 x 13.00 in. poly file fit alongside my older letter-size binders on the same shelf?

Yes, the file matches standard letter dimensions and its fully expanding bottom lets it stand freely beside binders, while the moisture-resistant polypropylene protects contents the same way archival-quality folders do.
