What the wallet is and who it suits

The Smead 71951 is a letter-size expansion wallet made from heavy-duty translucent polypropylene that resists tears and repels moisture. It holds up to 200 sheets and features a 2.25" expansion with a black cloth gusset and trim. Two clear front pockets and an included index card support quick identification. The elastic cord closure keeps contents secure during transport.

What it replaces and when to switch

This wallet replaces standard flat folders when active projects exceed single-layer capacity or when documents need protection from spills and handling wear. The jump is worth it if you regularly carry bulky letter-size sets between meetings, need acid-free and PVC-free storage for archival safety, or want colour-coded organisation with the translucent green tint.

What to verify before ordering

Confirm your filing system uses letter-size dimensions so the wallet fits drawers or shelves without overhang. Check that the 2.25" expansion depth matches the available space in your cabinet or briefcase. Ensure the elastic cord closure suits your workflow compared to hook-and-loop or button alternatives.

Questions about this item

What size paper fits inside the Smead 71951 wallet?

The wallet is built for letter-size sheets and expands to 2.25 inches, holding up to 200 pages.

How do you secure the flap once the wallet is full?

Wrap the elastic cord around the button on the protective flap; the cord stretches over the gusset even at full 2.25-inch expansion.

Will the clear front pockets yellow or become brittle over time?

The wallet is PVC-free and acid-free, so the translucent polypropylene pockets resist discoloration and embrittlement.
