Straight-cut tab file pockets

Smead 73696 expansion pockets come in a box of ten and are built for legal professionals who need to keep standard top-tab folders together without bulging the gussets. The straight-cut tab design suits desk-drawer organization and central shelf archives alike. Each pocket is letter size and finished in red Redrope for quick visual sorting.

Tyvek-lined gussets for durability

Fully lined Tyvek gussets in bright colours add strength at the stress points while allowing colour-coding by case or matter type. The double-thick Redrope front and back with 9-point front and 12-1/2-point back construction resists daily handling. Rolled edges and rounded corners reduce wear during frequent access.

Drop-front style for easy retrieval

The drop-front design lets users pull documents out without removing the entire pocket from the shelf. A 3/4-inch wide tab is embossed to guide label placement for consistent indexing. Two-ply tab construction stands up to repeated labelling and relabelling over the life of the file.

Questions about this item

How do I insert the straight-cut tab into my letter-size hanging rails without it catching on the embossed label area?

Slide the two-ply straight tab into the rail from the front; the 3/4-inch wide tab is embossed for label placement, so keep the label flat against the tab to prevent snagging on the rail edges.

When will the Tyvek-lined gussets need replacing under daily legal-file loads?

The fully lined Tyvek gussets are designed for extra strength and color-coding durability; they typically last through years of heavy deposition and discovery use before showing wear at the fold lines.

At what fill level does the 5 1/4-inch expansion pocket hit its structural limit during sustained shelf storage?

The pocket expands to 5 1/4 inches; the double-thick redrope front and 12-1/2 point back with rolled-edge construction resist bulging until the gussets are fully extended and the drop-front style is flush.
