Purpose & Fit

These Smead side-load envelopes hold up to 200 sheets of letter-size paper and expand 1 1/4 inches for bulky files. The clear poly construction lets you see contents at a glance. They suit offices, schools and home filing systems that need durable, acid-free pockets for long-term document protection.

Durability & Daily Use

Heavy-duty, PVC-free polypropylene resists tears and repels moisture to keep papers safe. The welded seams and cheese-blade flap add strength without adding bulk. Hook-and-loop closure opens and closes quickly for frequent access while staying secure during transport.

Organisation & Handling

Each pack contains five clear envelopes measuring 8 1/2 by 11 inches. The side-loading design and expanding gusset accommodate growing files without jamming. Acid-free, archival-quality material prevents yellowing, making them reliable for both active projects and permanent records.

Questions about this item

How do I load papers into the side-loading envelope without jamming the gusset?

Insert documents from the open side, align them flat, then press the hook-and-loop flap closed; forcing papers through the top stresses the 1 1/4" expansion gusset and causes misfeeds.

When will the hook-and-loop closure need replacement?

The closure is designed for everyday use; replace the envelope when the fastener no longer holds securely after repeated opening and closing cycles.

At what fill level does the envelope stop expanding?

The welded gusset expands up to 1 1/4" and holds roughly 200 sheets; beyond that the seams resist further stretch and the flap will not seal.
