Converts original 12+6pin MacBook Air SSD to standard 22pin SATA for desktop reuse
This adapter converts the proprietary 12+6pin SSD interface from 2010 and 2011 MacBook Air models A1369 and A1370 into a standard 22pin SATA connection. It allows you to repurpose the original Apple SSD as internal storage for a desktop PC or external SATA enclosure. The unit is a passive PCBA board requiring no drivers or software. It is strictly limited to genuine 12+6pin SSDs from those specific laptops and cannot support other Mac SSD generations or NVMe drives.
The adapter contains no fan, heatsink or voltage regulation circuitry, so it adds no noise and draws negligible power beyond the SSD itself. Signal integrity is maintained through a gold-plated contact layout on a quality circuit board substrate. Thermal performance depends entirely on the host system airflow around the installed SSD. Because it is a pure hardware pass-through, there is no firmware overhead or latency introduced during normal data transfer operations.
The package supplies the conversion PCBA alone, letting you reuse an existing MacBook Air SSD you already own. You must provide a standard SATA data cable and SATA power cable to complete the connection to a desktop motherboard or enclosure. No mounting bracket, drive tray or cloning software is bundled. This minimal approach keeps cost low for users who already have spare cables and a target system ready for the recycled drive.

Align the SSD's 12+6pin connector with the adapter socket, press firmly until fully seated, then attach a standard SATA data cable and SATA power cable to the 22pin port for desktop use.
The gold-plated contact pins resist oxidation; occasional dry reseating of the SSD and SATA cables clears dust buildup and maintains reliable signal transmission over time.
The bottleneck is the original SSD's own SATA speed ceiling, not the adapter, since the PCBA board simply passes native SATA signals without adding latency or conversion overhead.
