Storage expansion for desktops

This SMUGDESK adapter card adds four SATA 3.0 ports to a desktop PC through a single PCIe x1 Gen3 slot. It uses the ASMedia ASM1064 controller to provide up to 6Gbps bandwidth per port for stable multi-drive performance.

Suits builders adding multiple drives

The card suits builders who need to connect several hard drives, SSDs or optical drives at once and have a free PCIe slot of any width. It is not suited for systems that lack a PCIe slot or for laptops and small-form-factor devices without internal expansion space.

PCIe x1 Gen3 interface requirement

The single specification that decides fit is the PCIe x1 Gen3 interface, which works in x1, x4, x8 or x16 slots on mainstream motherboards. Without an available slot of this type the card cannot be installed.

Questions about this item

Will the ASMedia ASM1064 card run alongside my older SATA 3.0 drives without slowing them down?

Each of the four ports delivers up to 6Gbps bandwidth, so existing SATA 3.0 drives operate at their full rated speed.

How can I verify the card is functioning correctly after installation?

The controller appears in the OS device manager and each connected drive shows its expected 6Gbps link speed.

What comes in the box and what extra cables do I need?

The card itself is included; SATA data and power cables for up to four drives must be purchased separately.
