What this cable does

This VESA-certified Mini DisplayPort 1.4 cable links laptops or desktops with Mini DP or Thunderbolt ports to standard DisplayPort monitors, projectors or televisions. It carries 32.4 Gbps HBR3 bandwidth and supports 8K at 60 Hz, 5K at 60 Hz, 4K at 144 Hz and 2K at 240 Hz. HDR10, Dolby Vision and 10-bit colour are included, along with Dolby Atmos and 32-channel audio pass-through.

Who should buy it and who should not

Creators and gamers needing high-refresh 4K or 8K output from a Mini DP or Thunderbolt 2/1 source will benefit. The cable is bi-directional and backward compatible with DisplayPort 1.3, 1.2, 1.1 and 1.0. Buyers whose devices only offer full-size DisplayPort, HDMI or USB-C without DP Alt Mode cannot use this cable. It also does not suit setups requiring longer runs than the supplied 6.6 ft length.

What the bundle adds

Gold-plated connectors and the VESA certification mark give confidence in signal integrity for 8K HDR and variable-refresh gaming with G-Sync and FreeSync. DSC 1.2 and FSC compression support help maintain 8K 60 Hz within the 32.4 Gbps limit. No separate adapters, driver discs or software licences are included in the package.

Questions about this item

What port must my laptop already have for this Mini DisplayPort cable to work?

Your laptop needs a Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt 2/1 port to connect this cable.

Will this cable still work if my monitor only supports DisplayPort 1.2?

Yes, the cable is backward compatible with DisplayPort 1.3, 1.2, 1.1 and 1.0, so it will function at the monitor's maximum supported resolution and refresh rate.

How can I verify the cable is delivering 8K at 60 Hz after I plug it in?

Check your operating system's display settings or the monitor's on-screen menu; they should show 7680 x 4320 at 60 Hz with HDR active when the source outputs that signal.
