Converts a PCIe 4.0 x16 slot into four M.2 NVMe bays with 64Gbps bandwidth and RAID0 support
The SMUGDESK AU-P599 converts one PCIe 4.0 x16 slot into four M.2 NVMe bays. It targets desktop and workstation users who need to add multiple high-speed drives without extra drive cages. The card supports RAID0 to combine drives for higher throughput. Gold-plated PCB traces maintain signal integrity across all four slots.
Passive cooling relies on case airflow to keep the controller and installed drives at safe temperatures. The gold-plated PCB reduces resistance and helps maintain stable signal transmission during typical workloads. Power draw scales with the number and model of NVMe drives populated. No active fan is included so silent operation depends entirely on chassis ventilation.
RAID0 arrays spread continuous reads and writes across all four drives to sustain high bandwidth up to 64Gbps. Thermal throttling may occur on drives if case airflow is insufficient during long transfers. The PCIe 4.0 x16 host link provides headroom so the card itself does not bottleneck the array. Performance scales with the slowest drive installed in the set.
Measured against everything we stock in SATA, IDE & M.2 Drive Adapters, at today’s prices. Recalculated every night.

Insert the card fully into the x16 slot, secure the bracket screw, then mount each NVMe drive with its own standoff and screw — the standoff step is frequently skipped, leaving drives loose.
Occasionally reseat the card and each NVMe drive to refresh contacts, and use compressed air to clear dust from the gold-plated PCB and slot openings.
The shared 64Gbps PCIe 4.0 x16 bandwidth becomes the bottleneck before any single drive reaches its own ceiling.
