M.2 B+MKey SATA to SATA3 adapter

The SMUGDESK CX25 adapter board converts an M.2 B+MKey SATA solid-state drive to a standard 6Gbps SATA connection. It uses the CX25 chip to deliver steady transfer rates up to 300MB/s. The compact PCBA fits 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 length drives and works in laptops, miniPCs and embedded devices.

Fits legacy SATA upgrades and tight spaces

Builders adding an M.2 SATA drive to an older motherboard or drive bay get a simple plug-and-play solution that works with Windows, Linux and most SATA-enabled hardware. Users who need faster throughput than the 300MB/s SATA link provides, or who have an M.2 drive that is not a B+MKey SATA model, will not be served by this converter.

CX25 chip with 300MB/s SATA throughput

The CX25 controller bridges the M.2 B+MKey SATA interface to a native SATA3 6Gbps port, capping sustained transfers at 300MB/s. This single specification determines whether the adapter meets the performance requirement of the target system.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the CX25 adapter is functioning correctly after installation?

The drive should appear in BIOS and the operating system at SATA 6Gbps link speed, and sustained read/write speeds should reach the rated 300MB/s during large file transfers.

What comes in the box and what must I supply separately?

The package contains the CX25 adapter card only; you must provide a compatible 2230, 2242, 2260 or 2280 B+MKey SATA M.2 SSD and a standard SATA data cable.

Which M.2 drive sizes are supported by this adapter?

The CX25 adapter accepts 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 length B+MKey SATA NGFF SSDs; choose the length that matches your drive and the physical space in your system.
