Converts 40-pin PATA IDE 3.5-inch hard drives to SATA for use on modern motherboards, includes 7-pin data cable, driver-free hardware design
This adapter board converts a 40-pin parallel ATA hard drive to a SATA interface. It allows a 3.5-inch IDE drive to connect to a modern desktop motherboard. The package includes a 7-pin SATA data cable for the motherboard connection. No driver installation is required for operation.
Buyers needing to access data from vintage 40-pin PATA desktop drives on SATA-only systems will find this suitable. It is not for users with 44-pin notebook IDE drives, as the connector pin count differs. The adapter also does not supply power; a separate 4-pin Molex connection to the drive is still necessary. Builders without a free Molex lead or a SATA port on the motherboard cannot use this converter.
This converter works exclusively with 3.5-inch hard drives that use the 40-pin parallel ATA interface. It will not function with 44-pin laptop drives or any other interface type. Verifying the drive connector before purchase is essential. The single specification that decides fit is the 40-pin PATA interface on the target hard drive.

The bareboard PCBA is compact and designed to save installation space inside a computer case, so it fits alongside a 3.5inch drive in standard desktop chassis.
Connect the 40pin IDE drive to the converter, attach the included 7pin SATA data cable from the converter to the motherboard, and do not forget the separate 4pin Molex power connector for the drive.
The 7pin SATA data cable is a passive component with no moving parts and does not require scheduled replacement under normal use.
