Universal Drive Adapter

This SMUGDESK adapter connects SATA and IDE hard drives, solid-state drives and 5.25 inch optical drives to a computer through USB 3.0 or USB Type-C. It supports 2.5 and 3.5 inch form factors and can handle three drives at once for data recovery, backup or cloning tasks. A 12V 2A power supply and 4-pin cable are included for 3.5 inch and IDE devices.

Suits Legacy And Modern Drives

The kit suits anyone who needs to read older IDE disks, SATA SSDs or optical media on a modern laptop or desktop without opening the case. It is not for builders who require an internal controller card or users who need a permanent multi-bay enclosure with hardware RAID.

USB 3.0 5Gbps Interface

The single specification that decides fit is the USB 3.0 connection rated at 5Gbps, which also works with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 ports. This bandwidth determines the maximum transfer speed you will see from any attached SATA or IDE drive.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the adapter is functioning correctly after connecting a 3.5" IDE drive and the 12V power supply?

The LED indicator will illuminate to show power and blink during data activity, confirming the adapter and drive are working as intended.

What cables and power components are included, and what must I provide separately for a 5.25" DVD-ROM?

The kit includes a 12V 2A power adapter, a 4-pin power cable for 3.5" IDE drives, a USB 3.0 cable and a USB-C OTG adapter; no extra items are needed for a 5.25" optical drive.

Which version of this adapter should I choose to connect both a 2.5" SATA SSD and a 3.5" IDE HDD at the same time?

This single model provides simultaneous SATA and dual IDE connectors, so one unit handles both drive types without needing a different version.
