Converts an M.2 Key A+E port to an M-Key slot for NVMe SSD installation
This adapter cable bridges an M.2 Key A+E slot to an M.Key NVMe SSD, letting you add solid-state storage where only a Wi-Fi or similar card would normally fit. It targets builders upgrading compact systems or repurposing unused Key A+E connectors for faster storage. The male-to-female layout extends the original interface without occupying additional motherboard space.
The thin ribbon construction bends easily around motherboard components, drive cages and power cables, making it practical for small-form-factor cases or crowded server chassis. Gold-plated contacts on both ends maintain reliable signal integrity across the link. No tools or drivers are required; the SSD simply plugs into the female M-Key end while the male Key A+E plug seats in the host slot.
Because the riser carries only electrical traces and draws negligible power from the host slot, it introduces no active cooling requirement and produces zero acoustic output. The SSD itself manages its own thermal profile, while the cable remains electrically transparent during normal operation. Power consumption stays within the limits of the Key A+E specification.

The M.2 Key A+E interface is typically wired for two PCIe lanes, so an NVMe SSD connected through this riser will operate at PCIe x2 bandwidth rather than the full x4.
The cable is compact and flexible, allowing it to be routed through tight gaps and around other components in small-form-factor or densely populated cases.
Plug the male Key A+E end into the motherboard slot and the female M-Key end receives the NVMe SSD; the key notches only allow one orientation, so forcing the connector the wrong way is the typical error.
