Converts an M.2 NGFF SATA 3.0 SSD to a standard 7-pin SATA III port for storage upgrades and disk testing
This adapter converts an M.2 NGFF SATA 3.0 SSD into a standard 7-pin SATA III device. It lets you use an M.2 SATA drive in motherboards, enclosures or docks that only have regular SATA ports. The board is built for DIY upgrades, disk testing and reusing older SSDs. It is not compatible with NVMe or PCIe M.2 drives.
The adapter has no active components, so it adds no fan noise or extra power draw beyond the drive itself. It passes through the SATA III 6Gbps bandwidth for stable read and write speeds during file copies, OS installs and diagnostics. Plug-and-play support works on most Windows, Mac and Linux systems without driver installation.
The small board fits into cramped drive bays or enclosures where a bare M.2 slot is missing. It only requires a free SATA data port and a SATA power connector from the host system. Secure mounting of the M.2 SSD is essential to avoid contact issues. Builders needing NVMe support or a second M.2 slot must choose a different solution.

Insert the M.2 NGFF SATA SSD into the slot, secure it with the mounting screw, then connect the 7-pin SATA cable. The step people miss is tightening the screw fully; a loose SSD causes detection failures.
The passive PCB has no wearing parts. Reseat the M.2 drive and SATA cable if the system stops detecting the SSD after moves or vibration.
The SATA III 6Gbps link caps throughput, so the drive saturates the bus before the adapter itself becomes a bottleneck.
