Green PCB adapter card with copper heatsink and M.2 slot

SMUGDESK

SMUGDESK M.2 NVMe to PCIe 4.0 x4 Adapter Card with Copper Heatsink

SKU CH-C74R-K16YN

Adds an M.2 NVMe slot to a desktop via PCIe 4.0 x4 with a copper heatsink for 2230/2242/2260/2280 drives

  • Full Gen 4 speed up to 64Gbps with zero bandwidth loss
  • Copper heatsink prevents thermal throttling under sustained heavy load
  • Fits four M.2 lengths: 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 NVMe drives
  • Works in PCIe x16 slots on Gen 4.0, 3.0, 2.0 and 1.0 motherboards
  • Compact plug-and-play design adds high-speed storage to any desktop PC

PCIe 4.0 x4 adapter for M.2 NVMe drives

This adapter converts an M.2 NVMe solid state drive to a standard PCIe x4 channel so desktop PCs without a spare M.2 slot can still use high-speed Gen4 storage. It plugs into any PCIe x16 slot and delivers the full 64Gbps bandwidth defined by the PCIe 4.0 specification.

Compatibility and limitations

The card accepts M.2 NVMe drives in 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 form factors and works in PCIe 3.0, 2.0 and 1.0 motherboards at the slot's maximum speed. It is not suitable for laptops or systems that lack a free PCIe expansion slot.

Copper heatsink for sustained speed

A solid copper heatsink covers the back of the installed drive, conducting heat away during large file copies, game loads and boot sequences to prevent thermal throttling. This single thermal feature determines whether the SSD can maintain its peak throughput under continuous heavy load.

Questions about this item

Do I need a motherboard with a PCIe x16 slot to use this adapter?

Yes, the card fits a standard PCIe x16 physical slot and works with PCIe 4.0, 3.0, 2.0 or 1.0 motherboards.

Will my PCIe 3.0 motherboard limit the speed of a Gen4 NVMe SSD in this card?

The adapter is backward compatible and will run at the maximum speed your PCIe 3.0 slot supports.

How can I check the copper heatsink is preventing thermal throttling?

Monitor SSD temperatures under sustained heavy load; they should stay within the drive's rated limits.
