Turns a 2230 M.2 NVMe SSD into portable storage with 10Gbps USB 3.2 Gen2 speed and dual USB-A/USB-C connectors
The SMUGDESK adapter converts a 2230 M.2 NVMe solid-state drive into portable external storage. It connects via USB 3.2 Gen2 at up to 10Gbps, accelerating large file transfers such as RAW photos and 4K video. Dual USB-A and USB-C connectors allow direct attachment to both legacy and modern hosts without extra dongles. Plug-and-play operation works with Windows, macOS, Linux and Android.
No screws or drivers are required; the SSD seats on the PCB and the assembly plugs straight into a USB port. The only compatibility constraint is protocol: the adapter accepts M.2 NVMe drives only and will not recognise a SATA M.2 module. Builders must verify their SSD uses the NVMe protocol and the 2230 form factor before purchasing.
The board handles any capacity 2230 NVMe drive the market offers, so storage headroom depends entirely on the module you install. An integrated heat-dissipation structure keeps temperatures down during sustained heavy transfers, preventing thermal throttling on long workloads. It is not suited for users needing SATA M.2 support or larger 2280 drives.
