Adds an NVMe M.2 slot via PCIe 3.0 x4, supporting 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 M-key drives for desktop storage upgrades
This SMUGDESK adapter converts an available PCIe 3.0 x4 slot into a functional M.2 NVMe port. It targets owners of older motherboards that lack native M.2 NVMe connectors. The card enables a cost-effective storage upgrade without replacing the mainboard. Builders needing a B-key SATA M.2 drive cannot use this adapter.
The adapter complies with the PCIe 3.0 x4 specification to maintain full bandwidth for NVMe SSDs during extended workloads. High-speed read and write performance continues without an obvious bottleneck. No additional drivers are required under mainstream Windows systems. The standard full-height metal bracket secures the card firmly in the chassis rear slot.
This riser exclusively supports M-key NVMe M.2 SSDs in 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 lengths. It will not work with B-key SATA M.2 drives. Buyers must confirm their SSD uses the M-key NVMe interface before purchase.

The card is a passive riser with no active cooling or onboard controller, so it adds negligible heat or power beyond the NVMe SSD itself; total draw stays within the PCIe 3.0 x4 slot rating.
A free PCIe 3.0 x4 (or larger) slot with a full-height bracket opening and an M-key NVMe SSD in 2230, 2242, 2260 or 2280 length; SATA M.2 drives are not supported.
Yes — the adapter negotiates at PCIe 3.0 x4 in its own slot while legacy PCIe 2.0 devices run at their native speeds on other slots; no cross-slot interference occurs.
